The following Email was received and we believe it is important to share this with our you:

Many of you will recall that some months ago a report was circulated re person/persons driving a white van seen catching cats with a net from a number of localities such as Zebbug, Siggiew, etc.

This week we received a report stating that two persons driving a white van were spotted in Gwardamangia area.   These persons were seen at 5 am catching cats with a net from a colony that lived in this area. Unfortunately the person who observed this activity was unaware of previous reports and failed to note vehicle number.  However the feeder of this colony is a trusted and reliable person and confirmed that the colony of about 30 has been reduced to 9 cats.

Animal Welfare have been informed and are taking this matter seriously, however they need any information forthcoming from the public. If you have any info contact Manuel on 25904236.

We ask you to be vigilant and help in identifying these people.  We do not know where they will strike next.  This is a matter that should concern the public in general - not only animal lovers!! Processed meat is easily disguised when sold as parts, mince or sausage.

Please forward this mail to everybody, spread the news by word of mouth, sms, any means..... We are not alarmists but we are taking this matter very seriously.

Buggies for sale, this one in our shop in Santa Venera, but we have another 7 in Marsaskala. One of our volunteers, on seeing so many buggies in the shop, suggested to hold a pram-race on the boulevard in Marsaskala!!!!!!

We are very grateful and thank Annmarie Mayo and her mother who came to our clinic, were impressed with the service, bought a heart on the Rainbow Wall and on top of that gave Happy Paws a donation of 550 Euro. The donation was given on behalf of  IAESTE G C  2006 ALUMNI , ( www.iaeste.org.mt )

Happy Paws News

First of all we would like to thank you for your invitation at Happy Paws last Saturday.  I must admit I was impressed by the clinic. It is adequately equipped, clean and with an inviting relaxed atmosphere.  I must admit I was aware of Happy Paws but not fully aware of all the services given.  The amount of neutering of cats and dogs is impressive besides the medical treatment given to the injured animals.

I must admit that it broke my heart to see the little dog with the hernia and rear leg amputated :(  But as we have spoken, since there is a chance of the dog given a second chance to live I'll give you my 100% thumbs up.  I liked the idea of the rainbow wall, whereby one can buy a heart for just 25 euros, we need to come and have our heart too for sure.

Your idea of neutering is on the same wavelenght as our project "Floyd u Shabu l-Annimali tar-Rahal".  As you understand since it is targeted for 9 yr old children which we believe that education in young children who are the future generation is an investment in this issue.  We also hope and believe that through children we can get our message also to their parents and families.

May I thank you once again for the great experience at Happy Paws and hope that we can work together in order to avoid animal cruelty and reduce the number of abandoned unwanted animals.  Keep up the work!

Best regards,  Carmen Micallef   f/Subculture Animal Friends

We where delighted when PC Alfred Chetcuti asked us to set up a stall at the Qormi Spring Fair.

What a wonderful occasion to join. Good atmosphere, well presented exhibitions of vegetables, flowers and of course lots of animals. Monique, Rita, Maike and Lino proudly flew the Happy Paws flag as ambassadors for our Charity. We had many visitors asking for information or just looking for bargains. Even little Nicole came to show off her own Happy Paw Britney.

Unfortunately from time to time, we get cases of animal cruelty in the clinic. Generally we don't like to splash them all over the website. This case however is such an appalling example, that we feel it needs to be reported.

We surgically had to remove a hook (mountain climbers equipment type) from the foot of the dog. It was lodged through the skin and bones of the paw. With a piece of rope at the end.

Welcome donation

We thank a very generous supporter who apparently was not impressed by the 5 year old, worn-out T-shirts we wear in the clinic and decided to donate 50 new ones, sporting our new logo. A very welcome gift.

Fresh Look

Our Lino (under the watchful paws of the patron saint of busy bees) skillfully organised sponsorship to have the outside of the clinic repainted.  We would like to thank our Landlady, Charlies 1 and 2, the cherry-picker and the paint provider next door, for their welcome contribution.

Our volunteer Gareth proudly presents the membership card to Rebecca Farrugia, 11 years old, who became our latest and youngest member. Paid for with her own pocket money, she believes by helping to neuter street cats, less animals will be born sick or killed in road accidents.

Welcome Rebecca and thank you for supporting Happy Paws.

Charlene Grange and Liston Bongailas donating a 70 Euro check to Maike at the clinic yesterday. They are both representing the HIPHOP culture. Charlene tells us: "as a b-girl (breakdancer) I did workshops for 3 days (at St. Margeret College) to share my knowledge on what is HIPHOP and instead of paying me back I wanted to collect 1euro for charity from every child who liked to join in and listen and learn. I did this to show that in HIPHOP culture there is not only the dance that makes the HIPHOP. In reality HIPHOP is around us in every single moment and we have to live it to the full by help others in our way and changing the negative situations into the positive way. I would like to thank all those people involved."

Happy Paws likes to thank Charlene, Liston and the children for their fine gesture and wish them all the best in HipHop.
